Warm Nights - Fresh Food

We are in full swing of summer now. It began with Memorial Day weekend and now we are nearly finished with the 4th of July celebrations. One of the things I love most about summer is how late it stays light. This combined with the warm temperatures (yet cooler California evenings) make for perfect dining alfresco! I just love it.

Fire up the grill and throw on some good carne asada! Slice it up and stuff it in a tortilla with tomato, onion, cilantro, avocado and squeeze of lime. This, my friends, nears perfection! Add something like a Negro Modelo or a light white wine and you are good to go.

Jared- You've got it!

Kate- Totally! What is that? But it is all better that way.

Robin- Outside makes everything taste better too!

Gloria- Thank you. I am sure you make some good ones there! Are they in any way like our Mexican burritos?

Oh, now that's clever! You made this on the grill? LOVE IT! It is soooo stink'n hot here - I just called Alfredo to tell him that we're ALL going out to eat tonight unless he wants sandwiches & a cranky wife. Funny, he thought dining out was a great idea. I'll try this one tomorrow night.

P.S. Glad you're back!

Carne asada, that's exactly what we plan to have tomorrow, asada like they do it in Argentina!

Amy- I love going out to eat. At present though, it is more work to do so as my son does not seem able to sit anywhere at any time for more than 30 seconds!

Lori- Thanks! It is probably a once a week dinner for us.

Laura- Yum! How do they do it in Argentina???

Nothin better for an outdoor meal in SoCal, in my opinion. This was our favorite thing to make a couple of summers in a row when we would have people over. Perfect. Even better was getting the meat marinated for 8 hours at our local Mexican market. :)

Taste Memory- Totally true! Hope you got here safely.

Melissa- I often go to a Mexican Market on Chapman and get the marinated meat! Sometimes I do it myself too.
